Greenhouse Gas Inventory

Since May 2022, the Township of Mapleton and CIMA+ have been working together in developing the Township’s 2021 Greenhouse Gas Inventory, a detailed listing of all emissions sources within the defined Township’s boundary, in aims of gaining an understanding of which sectors and activities are contributing to the overall footprint of the Township.

The objectives of the GHG Inventory developed in compliance with the Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Inventories (GPC) are to:

• Develop a comprehensive and robust GHG inventory to better understand the emissions contributions of different activities in the community,

• Establish a base year GHG emissions inventory, set GHG reduction targets and track performance,

• Ensure consistent and transparent measurement and reporting of GHG emissions.
