Asset Management

The Township of Mapleton owns and manages physical assets such as roads, bridges, stormwater, wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations, water storage facilities, watermains and sewers, fire services, administrative and community buildings, and a fleet of vehicles that together total over $548 million in value.

The Township relies on these assets to deliver services to approximately 11,000 residents. The Township of Mapleton’s asset management program aims to improve and sustain asset management practices. Overall, the goal of the asset management program is to help the Township maintain its assets at appropriate levels of service by applying the right intervention, to the right asset, at the right time. The Asset Management Plan is Township's road map for sustainable infrastructure planning going forward.

The 2025 Asset Management Plan (AMP) is an update from the 2022 and 2024 AMP and was developed in alignment with the Township’s strategic plan pillars. It includes plans for the infrastructure that are key to the wellbeing and livability of the community. With the development of this AMP the Municipality has achieved compliance with July 1, 2025, requirements under O. Reg. 588/17. This includes requirements for proposed levels of service and inventory reporting for all asset categories. More details on compliance can be found in section 2.5.1 O. Reg. 588/17 Compliance Review.

Community engagement was also included in this AMP to help inform proposed Levels of Service.

The 2025 AMP was approved by Council on November 25, 2025, and is available below:

The Asset Management Plan is a comprehensive long-term plan for capital assets that is developed using the best available information to support capital and financial decision-making. Additional assets will be added to the plan as it is updated.

Future infrastructure funding is conditional upon the Township having an up-to-date asset management plan.
