Current Projects

Each year, the Township's invests an average of $8 million into infrastructure and assets to serve the community service level needs. 

The content below details the relevant information for ongoing projects throughout the Township.

Projects identified in blue are completed, orange in progress and green are under review. Each project is outlined in greater detail below.

Asphalt Patching Program

Current Phase: In progress

The asphalt patching program is designed to address and repair damaged asphalt surfaces throughout the Township. The program aims to enhance traffic safety, improve rideability and extend the lifespan of pavement. Works are generally completed in Q3.

Asset Management Program

Current Phase: In progress

A multi-faceted program to support evidence-based decision-making on municipal infrastructure investments. The 2025 program includes a comprehensive update of the Asset Management Plan, in accordance with O. Reg. 588/17, as well as bridge and culvert condition assessments.

Investment - $95,000

Bridge Rehabilitations

Current Phase: Under Construction

Bridge / Culvert rehabilitations and replacements are significant infrastructure investments aimed at repairing or replacing aging, deteriorating, or inadequate bridges. Program timing is based upon legislative inspections under the OSIM program. 

  • Structure PB032 - Sideroad 16 - South of Wellington Road 8 - This project was considered a minor rehabilitation with concrete repairs.
    • Investment - $380,000

  • Structure MB014 - Concession 4 - Just east of Sideroad 3 - This project is considered a minor rehabilitation with concrete repairs.
    • Investment - $220,000

Bunker Gear Extractors

Current Phase - Completed

This project, with funding support from the Office of the Fire Marshall (OFM), will enable Mapleton Fire to install two (2) extractors in each station as well as an automatic soap dispenser for each. This equipment supports the fire departments health and safety and cancer prevention initiatives.

Investment - $43,000

Culvert Replacements

Current Phase: Completed

  • Sideroad 15 (3km South of Concession 6)

Downtown Beautification Program

Drayton Entrance Signage

Current Phase: Completed 

This project represents the next phase of the Township's re-branding, with installation of new signs in Drayton.

 

Economic Development Strategy and Culture Master Plan

Current Phase: Completed

The Township with support from McSweeney and Associates completed a comprehensive review and update of the Township's Economic Development Strategy. The outcomes and action plans will be included within future budgets for Council consideration.

Facility Painting Program

Current Phase: Completed

Project works included the exterior painting of three (3) locations: PMD Arena, Drayton Fire Hall and Moorefield Fire Hall.

Investment - $90,000

Fleet Replacement Program

Current Phase: In Progress

2025 Fleet Replacements included:

  • Roads Tandem Truck (12-22)
  • Roads - 1-Ton Pickup Truck (13-011)
  • Parks - ¾ Ton Pickup Truck (13-107)

Investment - $615,000

Gas Detection Equipment

Current Phase: Completed

This projected was an unbudgeted initiative that required the replacement of Gas Detection Equipment for the Mapleton Fire Department.

Investment - $17,500

Hot Mix Paving Program

Current Phase: Completed

This is an annual program to repair, replace or reconstruct existing road network segments with hot mix asphalt to maintain adequate high class bituminous (HCB) surface road assets. Road networks include:

  • Sideroad 15 (WR 8 to Conc 12)
  • Sideroad 15 (Conc 5 to Hollen Road)
  • Sideroad 15 (Hollen Road to Conc 6)
  • Sideroad 16 (WR 8 to 1.097Km N. of WR 8)
  • Concession 6 (1.094Km E. of SR 15 to Leslie Lane)
  • Concession 5 (SR15 - WR10)

Investment - $3,222,995

HVAC and Plumbing Repairs

Current Phase: Reviewing Project Scope

Various repairs and replacements were identified under the Building Condition Assessment program. 2025 works were provisioned for:

  • Drayton Fire Hall
  • Public Works Operations Centre
  • PMD Arena

Investment - $32,000

37 Adam Brown Site Works

Current Phase: Completed

This project entailed the site landscaping works and clean up of the Township owned property at 37 Adam Brown in Moorefield.

Investment - $20,000

 

IT Infrastructure Program

Current Phase: In-Progress

Project works include the replacement and upgrade of IT Infrastructure including switches, firewalls, etc., as well as PC refreshes for end-of-life equipment.

Investment - $42,000

Kinette Playground Equipment

Current Phase: Completed

This project is in partnership with the Kinette Service Club. Project includes the supply and installation of new playground equipment at the Drayton Ball Park. Project was funded by the Kinette Club.

Investment - $30,000

Machinery & Equipment Replacement Program

Current Phase: Completed

This series of projects includes the replacement of the following:

  • Parks - Zero-Turn Mower
  • Cemetery - Lawn Mower
  • Roads - Roadside Mower
  • Parks - Lawn Mower Trailer

Investment - $100,100

Medical Centre - Building Interior Repairs

Current Phase: In-Progress

Project works identified under the Building Condition Assessment program. Works include upgrades to standard fitting and equipment, wall paint and carpet installation.

Investment - $30,000

Mobile Data Terminals (MDT's)

Current Phase: Reviewing Project Scope

Municipal Office - Council Chamber Renovations

Current Phase: Completed

Project works included the replacement of furnishing and audio visual equipment within the Council Chambers.

Investment - $90,000

Official Plan Update

Current Phase: Completed

This project included consulting costs associated with expansion of the urban boundary. OPA 123 was endorsed by the County of Wellington and approved by the Ministry in Q2.

Investment - $50,000

Parks Operations Centre Building Repairs

Current Phase: In-Progress

Project works being undertaken to improve the utilization of this facility as a centre for Parks Operations. 2025 works include window replacements, drainage repairs and network infrastructure improvements.

Investment - $40,000

Parks, Trails and Sports Field Signage

Current Phase: In-Progress

Update of signage at community parks, sports fields and trails, as identified under the most recent Development Charges Background Study.

Investment - $20,000

Rotary Park Upgrades

Current Phase: Reviewing Project Scope

Project is partially funded by the Rotary Club, and partially funded by Development Charges. Project scope is currently under review with Rotary Club

Investment - $120,000

Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)

Current Phase: Completed

Fire Department replacement of all SCBA occurred in 2024, and will be funded over 5-year term.

Investment - $491,700

Sidewalk Repair Program

Current Phase: Completed

The Sidewalk Repair Program aims to address the maintenance and improvement of sidewalks throughout the Township. The program is essential for ensuring safety and accessibility for pedestrians. New sidewalks are installed at 1.5m width to meet AODA.

In 2025 over 790m of sidewalks were replaced throughout the Urban Centres of Drayton and Alma, including sections of:
 

  • Edward St., Drayton 
  • Wood St., Drayton
  • Peel St. W., Alma

Storm Pond Rehabilitation

Current Phase: Completed

The Storm Water Management Facility Rehabilitation Program is a bi-annual program intended to restore storm water management facilities to improve functionality.
