Home Care Services

There are a variety of home care, personal support, and community services available to seniors living in the Township of Mapleton. You do not need a doctor to refer you to any of the services listed below.

Victorian Order of Nurses (VON)

The Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) is Canada's largest, national, not-for-profit, charitable home and community care organization. They offer more than 75 different home care, personal support, and community services to enhance each client's quality of life. They provide them with the personal assistance and the support needed to make them comfortable in their own home.

Meals on Wheels

The Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) offers a meals on wheels program. Volunteers deliver nourishing meals to people unable to cook or shop for themselves. The cost for a hot meal is $7. This includes a soup, main course and dessert. Frozen meals are also available for $4.65. For more information, please call 519-323-2330.

Transportation

The Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) provides seniors and adults with disabilities transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping, adult day programs, and other appointments. Von requires you to register for this service at least three days in advance. The length of your trip will be used to calculate the cost. For more information, please call 519-323-2330.

Housecleaning

The Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) provides housecleaning services for seniors and adults with disabilities. The cost for this program is $14 per hour with a two hour minimum. that you pay to the cleaner at the time of the service. For more information, please call 519-323-2330.

Seniors Support Worker

The Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) provides short term support for seniors and adults with disabilities. They can help you to complete forms, find the services you need, go with you to medical appointments, help you pick up medications or groceries and provide you with medication reminders. Volunteer Visiting

Trained volunteers at the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) provide companionship and personal assistance to isolated seniors or adults with chronic illnesses or disabilities. Volunteers are matched with clients following a client needs and interest assessment by a health professional. For more information, please call 519-323-2330.

Telephone Reassurance

The Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) offered a Telephone Reassurance program. This service acts as both a regular telephone security check and an opportunity to reduce social isolation. For more information, please call 519-323-2330.

Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network

The Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network works with people of all ages to ensure they can remain as independent as possible. This includes help with bathing, dressing, taking medications etc. A home visit with a case manager may be arranged to determine if you qualify for the service.
