PARTIAL BURN BAN DUE TO EXTREMELY DRY CONDITIONS.

Updated August 11, 2025

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: PARTIAL BURN BAN DUE TO EXTREMELY DRY CONDITIONS.
A partial burn ban has been issued in Minto, Mapleton and Wellington North due to extreme dry conditions. All open-air burn permits are suspended, and no new permits will be issued. Only recreational cooking and campfires are allowed until further notice. The ban targets agricultural and brush pile burns, with fines in place for violations. These measures are necessary during high-risk periods like dry spells, high winds, and inaccessible terrain that can lead to uncontrolled fires.
Residents are urged to take precautions to prevent grass and brush fires, such as clearing dry debris, storing wood and propane tanks safely, and properly disposing of cigarettes. Campfires are still permitted, but all other burning activities are restricted.
We thank the public for their cooperation and emphasize the importance of fire safety during these conditions.

About Mapleton

The Township support a mostly agricultural and rural population of approximately 11,000 residents. Following amalgamation in 1999 Mapleton began to focus on its new vision and mission: "rooted in tradition, growing for the future." Three small hamlets (Drayton, Moorefield and Alma) make up the "urban" centres of the Township.
