Open Air Burn Notification
Those found to be in violation of the conditions as set out in the Open Air Burning By-law or those who conduct open air burning without proper notification to the Township shall be held liable for costs incurred by the Township of Mapleton Fire/Rescue for any emergency response. Those costs are identified in the Fees and Charges By-law. Further this department will proceed to prosecution against you as owner for non-compliance with article 2.6.3.4 of the Ontario Fire Code or the Fire Protection and Prevention Act.
In the interest of public safety the Township of Mapleton Fire/Rescue reserves the right to issue a ban or temporarily suspend all open air burning. Should conditions as determined by the Township of Mapleton Fire/Rescue warrant such action, any person found to be conduction open air burning in contravention of such a ban is guilty of an offence under the Ontario Fire Code or the Fire Protection and Prevention Act.
Notification must be sent in 24 hours prior to the igniting of the Open-air burn.
