Those found to be in violation of the conditions as set out in the Open Air Burning By-law or those who conduct open air burning without proper notification to the Township shall be held liable for costs incurred by the Township of Mapleton Fire/Rescue for any emergency response. Those costs are identified in the Fees and Charges By-law. Further this department will proceed to prosecution against you as owner for non-compliance with article 22.214.171.124 of the Ontario Fire Code or the Fire Protection and Prevention Act.
In the interest of public safety the Township of Mapleton Fire/Rescue reserves the right to issue a ban or temporarily suspend all open air burning. Should conditions as determined by the Township of Mapleton Fire/Rescue warrant such action, any person found to be conduction open air burning in contravention of such a ban is guilty of an offence under the Ontario Fire Code or the Fire Protection and Prevention Act.
