Elections

Every four years, in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, the Township Clerk, acting as Returning Officer, conducts elections for the offices of:

Mayor (1 at large)
Councillors (4 at large)
County Ward Councillor for Ward 2
School Trustees for:
- Upper Grand District School Board (1)
- Wellington Catholic District School Board (1)
- French Public School Board (1)
- French Catholic School Board (1)

Mapleton electors can vote online or by telephone from October 16 at 7 a.m. until October 26 at 8 p.m.

If you have not received your Voter Information Letter, please contact Mapleton’s Clerk at 519-638-3313 or email lwheeler@mapleton.ca.

If you do not have internet or telephone access, or experience any difficulty voting, please visit the Township Office at 7275 Sideroad 16 during regular operating hours. Our staff would be happy to assist you.

The next municipal election will be held on Monday October 26, 2026.

Information For Voters

Why should I vote?

Voting is an important part of our democracy and provides residents with the opportunity to have a voice in shaping the future of their community. By casting your vote, you are choosing representatives who make decisions on local policies, services, and priorities that impact everyday life. Municipal government plays an important role in our community by maintaining roads and sidewalks, ensuring access to safe drinking water, providing snow clearing services, supporting recreation opportunities, strengthening the economy and helping keep our residents safe and well-served.

Am I Eligible to Vote?

You are eligible to vote in the 2026 Municipal Election, if on Voting Day, you:

Are a Canadian Citizen
Are at least 18 years old
Reside in the Township of Mapleton, or are the owner or tenant of land in the Township of Mapleton or the spouse of such owner or tenant
Are not prohibited from voting as defined below

Who is Not Permitted to Vote?

Individuals serving a sentence of imprisonment in a penal or correctional institution
A corporation
An individual acting as an executor, trustee, or any other representative capacity, except as a voting proxy
An individual convicted of a corrupt practice in the 2022 Municipal Election, as described in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996
