Updated

On Thursday April 14, 2022, the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario announced recipient funding for water infrastructure projects through the Green Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program. The Township of Mapleton is excited to be one of the funding recipients. The Federal government is funding $1,995,840, the Provincial government is funding $1,663,034 and Mapleton is funding $1,330,726 towards the Moorefield Water System Renewal Project.

Mayor Gregg Davidson is extremely pleased to see Mapleton receive approximately $3.6 million in funding to help us continue supplying safe drinking water. On behalf of the residents, he thanks both the Provincial and Federal governments for recognizing our financial needs in our water infrastructure renewal project.

Mapleton Council has been advocating since 2019 and is thrilled that both levels of government have noticed our water and wastewater needs within Mapleton. This funding will support the rehabilitation of the drinking water system at the water treatment plant including various upgrades, replacements, and installations to improve water treatment facilities, improve access to potable water and increase efficiency of water treatment infrastructure.
