New Comprehensive Zoning By-law Within the Township of Mapleton The Township of Mapleton is in the process of preparing a new Comprehensive Zoning By-law for all land, buildings and structures in the Township of Mapleton. A Public Meeting to advise the public of the proposed By-law and to obtain public input to making a decision on the By-law is scheduled for Mapleton Council on: Tuesday, August 10, 2010 Mapleton Township Municipal Offices Council Chambers 7275 Sideroad 16 7:00 p.m. LOCATION OF THE SUBJECT LAND The proposed Comprehensive Zoning By-law is intended to apply to all lands within the Township of Mapleton and therefore, no key map is provided. PURPOSE AND EFFECT The purpose of the by-law is to enact a new comprehensive zoning by-law for the Township. The proposed by-law will replace the current zoning by-law which was enacted in 2000 and is a consolidation of the former Peel, Maryborough and Village of Drayton zoning by-laws. Some changes reflected in the new draft by-law include: • Updated Environmental mapping and regulations • Updated regulations for Home Industry uses within the Agricultural zone • Updated regulations for the establishment of Second Dwellings in the Agricultural zone. • New regulations to address source water protection areas. • A reduction in the number of zoning categories including some minor changes to the Residential zones. Open house meetings were held for the public in 2009 to receive comments and to review the Natural Environment mapping and the draft by-law. MAKING AN ORAL OR WRITTEN SUBMISSION Any person or public body is entitled to attend the public meeting and make written or oral submissions on the proposed zoning by-law amendment. If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Township of Mapleton before the by-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Council of the Township of Mapleton to the Ontario Municipal Board. If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting, or make written submissions to the Township of Mapleton before the by-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Municipal Board unless, in the opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to do so. REQUEST FOR NOTICE OF PASSING If you wish to be notified of the passing of the proposed zoning by-law, you must make a written request to the Clerk, 7275 Sideroad 16 Drayton, ON N0G 1P0. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION A draft of the proposed Comprehensive Zoning By-law is available for public viewing at the Township office during regular business hours at 7275 Sideroad 16 (east of Drayton). CEMETERY BY-LAW NOTICE
The Corporation of the Township of Mapleton is planning to file for approval By-law Number 2010-053 being a by-law to regulate the operation of Drayton Cemetery (St. Martins and Victoria) and Hollen Cemetery to the Registrar of the Cemeteries Act (Revised). Any interested persons may obtain a copy of the by-law from the Township of Mapleton Administrative Office located at 7275 Sideroad 16 during normal office hours. Alternatively, the by-law may be viewed on the Township web-site (www.mapleton.ca). Should you have any questions please contact the Township at 519-638-3313 Ext. 23.
